Slack Access Instructions

Slack Access Instructions

Please choose the access method that fits your project needs.

🔹 Option A: Single-Channel Guest

Usually Free

Best if you only need to observe one specific project channel. This account type is usually free for the client (5 free guests per paid user).

  1. Click your Workspace Name in the top left corner.
  2. Select Invite people to [Workspace Name].
  3. Enter my email address: [email protected]
  4. Crucial Step: Change the account type from "Member" to Guest.
  5. Select Single-Channel Guest.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Search for and select the specific project channel you want me to see.
  8. Click Send Request.
Note: I will technically have the ability to post, but I will treat this as "View Only" access.

🔹 Option B: Multi-Channel Guest

Takes Paid Seat

Best if you need to observe multiple project channels. Warning: This takes up a paid "seat" on your billing plan.

  1. Click your Workspace Name in the top left corner.
  2. Select Invite people to [Workspace Name].
  3. Enter my email address: [email protected]
  4. Crucial Step: Change the account type from "Member" to Guest.
  5. Select Multi-Channel Guest.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Select the specific channels (e.g., #project-alpha, #project-beta) you want me to observe.
  8. Click Send Request.

🔹 Option C: Slack Connect

External Connect

Use this ONLY if you (the consultant) already have your own paid Slack workspace. This is often preferred by IT departments because they don't have to manage a user account.

Instructions for the Client:

  1. Go to the specific channel you want to share.
  2. Click the channel name at the top to open details.
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. Scroll down to Slack Connect and click Connect.
  5. Enter my email address ([email protected]) and click Send Invite.
I will receive an invite to accept this channel into my own Slack workspace.
🛡️ My "Read-Only" Commitment

Note: I understand that Slack does not have a technical "Viewer" or "Read-Only" role. Even though the "Guest" role allows posting, I will voluntarily refrain from posting messages or adding files unless specifically asked. I will treat my access as strictly observational.
